Bringing Together Research and Policy for the Global Control of HPV Related Disease and Cancers

Our Vision

We are a diverse, global network of experts in a variety of population health disciplines who work in the prevention and control of HPV related diseases & cancer, as well as a broad range of sexual and reproductive health fields. As a team of researchers embedded within the public health system, our focus is primarily on implementation science, and health systems research. Our team has contributed substantially to policy and research in this field for decades. Based in Canada and internationally, our work is funded by various government and health research organizations.

Our Projects

Elimination of Cervical Cancer

To accelerate Canada’s pace to achieve cervical cancer elimination, Dr. Ogilvie & team will implement research to optimize existing programs and catalyze new programs to improve HPV vaccine and screening coverage.

Vaccination Projects

We investigate the safety, effectiveness, and impact of HPV vaccination as a primary prevention against HPV in British Columbia and low-middle income countries such as South Africa and Uganda.

Screening Projects

We explore the effectiveness of both HPV testing and Pap cytology screening as a secondary prevention measure against HPV and cervical cancer. Our projects include both self-collection and clinician-collected samples in British Columbia, Uganda, and Guatemala.

Health Systems Research

Our research seeks opportunities for HPV prevention to be integrated into existing health systems in a manner that can be implemented and scaled up in a sustainable manner.

Adolescent Health Research

Our adolescent health research is focused on reproductive health and cervical cancer in low-middle income countries. Adolescence is a crucial time and can set the foundation for health, education, and skills that will determine social and economic development over the life course.
